The Dormy House Hotel & Spa

Originally a hardworking farmhouse, Dormy House in the Cotswolds has evolved into a charming hotel featuring 39 beautifully appointed bedrooms and suites, exquisite restaurants, and a world-class spa, all nestled in the picturesque countryside. This beloved destination has become one of the most cherished hotels in the UK.

Situated on the expansive 400-acre Farncombe Estate, Dormy House dates back to the 17th century when it functioned as a farmhouse. Since 1977, it has been lovingly operated by the same family, and after a major refurbishment in 2013, it reopened its doors to guests.

Culinary offerings at Dormy House are exceptional, highlighted by the Potting Shed—a cozy spot with a rustic oak bar and a laid-back vibe. Here, guests can enjoy a comforting menu featuring dishes like slow-cooked pork belly and pan-fried cod fillet.

For those seeking a refined dining experience accompanied by stunning views, the light-filled Back Garden restaurant is the perfect choice. Emphasizing locally sourced seasonal ingredients, its philosophy centers around slow foods and high-welfare rare-breed meats, all within an enchanting setting.

Reflecting the owners' Danish roots, the interiors designed by the internationally acclaimed Todhunter Earle embody the essence of hygge, complete with panelled beams, flagstone floors, Cotswold stone accents, and open log fires. Three inviting lounges create ample social spaces, while an array of uniquely styled bedrooms ranges from intimate snug rooms in the main farmhouse to spacious suites featuring roll-top bathtubs, four-poster beds, and private hot tubs—all showcasing delightful farmhouse features like vaulted ceilings and exposed oak beams.

Dormy House's award-winning spa is a sanctuary of rejuvenation and relaxation. Guests can unwind in the serene swimming pool, indulge in the outdoor hydrotherapy hot tub, or explore the Scandi-style thermal suite designed to soothe and invigorate. The spa also includes a mud room linked to a double treatment room, a Champagne nail bar, a gym, and a personal training studio. With six tranquil treatment rooms, including one for couples, expert therapists provide a variety of treatments from Temple Spa, Natura Bissé, and massages by renowned beauty expert Beata Aleksandrowicz of Pure Massage. After a blissful treatment, guests can relax at the Greenhouse spa café, complete with a sun terrace and a menu of refreshing drinks, snacks, and light lunches.

Dormy House offers four types of rooms to accommodate guests: Intimate, Comfy, Splendid, and Top Notch rooms. The Intimate rooms are perfect for couples, while the Comfy rooms are distributed between the courtyard and lodge. The Splendid rooms are family-friendly, featuring sofa beds, and the Top Notch rooms epitomize luxury with vaulted ceilings, exposed beams, four-poster beds, chandeliers, and expansive bathrooms—ideal for a special getaway. For dog lovers, Dormy House is pet-friendly, providing select rooms for four-legged companions and allowing them to dine with their owners in the Potting Shed for a small fee that includes a dog bed, towel, water bowl, and welcome treat.

In addition to cozy bedrooms, Dormy House features 11 stunning suites, with the Studio being the largest. This suite boasts its own lounge, en-suite bathroom, and an impressive vinyl collection complete with a turntable and sound system for a truly indulgent experience in modern Scandinavian style.

Farncombe serves as an excellent gateway to the breathtaking Cotswolds, offering a plethora of activities that may require more than just a long weekend. Guests can partake in group clay pigeon shooting, visit Daylesford Farm, explore Blenheim Palace and its expansive gardens, go punting in Oxford, or check out the Cotswold Motoring Museum in Bourton-on-the-Water. The list of adventures is endless—discover what else awaits you here.
